Not so common-sense things to check
Is the camera on?
Is the transceiver on? Verify that the red “status” light is flashing.
Do both the camera and transceiver have charged batteries?
Do you have the transceiver set to the proper camera room number?
Mixing a new transceiver with old transceiver might be an issue
Make sure the new transceiver settings are correct so one is set as sending signal and the
other as receiving signal.
2. First test the transceivers!
Fire the camera you are having issues with. If the lights don’t go off in the studio, fire the test button on the camera transceiver. If the lights flash then the studio lighting connections are working, and the problem is between the transceiver and the camera hot shoe.
3. If you hit the shutter release button and the camera transceiver light is flashing red ensure it…
is tight to the hot shoe. Also take the receiver off the camera and with a pencil eraser clean the connection spot on the hot shoe and transceiver. If after cleaning the connections and ensuring the transceiver is tight to the camera, verify it is still not flashing the studio lights, double check to insure the correct camera room is selected, and that the red “status” light is flashing, then contact maintenance/repair.
If your transceiver and camera are working right but the lights still are not going off………….When you click the shutter and the transceiver red light on the camera is going off is the red light on the transceiver near the main light flashing?
4. If the red light is not flashing when you hit the shutter check to ensure you have both
transceivers hooked to the same camera room numbers If the transceivers are on the same number check the power cord to ensure it is hooked up to the transceiver and transceiver is turned on and red indicator light is flashing. Batteries in the transceiver while hooked to a power supply will make it malfunction so if it is hook to a power supply ensure there are no batteries in the transceiver near the main light. If the red light is flashing on the transceiver near the main light when you press the shutter………….
Ensure the switches on the switch plate for the lights are on correctly. (If applicable) If they are and it is still not firing. Take the wire from the transceiver near the main light and bypass the switch box and plug into the main light.
If the main light goes off it is most likely a connection in the switch box. If the main light does not go off it could be the trip wire from the transceiver to the light.
You can repeat this process for each light. Plug each trip cable directly into the transceiver and trip the transceiver to see if it is the switch box or wire ( If you have a switch box, if not it is the wire).
If it still does not fire with the wire direct to the transceiver and the transceiver red light flashes, it will either be the trip wire or the actual light plug port where the wire plugs into the light.
